True Life: I Hate Running Right Now

It’s been two months and one day since I ran the Boston Marathon.  I took 10 full days off from running after the race to recover but I am having a hard time getting back into it.  I will run the Falmouth Road Race in August but I have no other races on the calendar.  I’m not injured but I’m not ready to start training.  I don’t want to race anytime soon.  Running isn’t fun for me right now.

I’m tired?  I should rest.

Grey skies?  I’ll pass.

Cool weather?  No thanks.

Rain?  Not a chance.

Last month I ran 5 days in a row on the beach in Texas.  It was awesome.  I can’t tell you the last time I ran 5 days in a row but running on the beach in the hot morning sun was such a treat.  I thought it would jumpstart my running but I came home to 5 days in a row of rain.

Don’t get me wrong—I have been staying active.  I just haven’t been running.  I teach at least 3 spin classes a week.  I have been doing some On Demand home workouts.  I go to run club… occasionally—like when Danielle brought ice cream cake to celebrate Jason’s graduation.  G and I ran to the donut truck a few times.  I climbed Mt. Monadnock.  I explored some trails near my house.  I bought an inflatable kayak.  I even SUPed once.

When I’m ready, I will start training again.  Maybe then I’ll return to blogging.  But until then…
