Another good week of running with
only 3 weeks to go until 13.1 miles in Newport.
Even though I am using the race as a training run for the Buffalo Half Marathon, I still want to do well and feel good.
I was really nervous going into
this week because of the 3x1 mile workout I had on the schedule. I knew it was going to be a challenge but at
the same time a good test of my fitness.
The weather was *decent* on Monday—except for the nasty wind!—so I got those mile
repeats out of the way right away and I did
a little better than expected. The first
mile I was cruising. The second mile was
work. The third mile was a total
sufferfest. My heart rate peaked at
187 bpm. In fact my watch told me I needed 3
days to recover! Sorry Garmin, I ain’t
got time for that!
On Tuesday, I went to…. wait for
it…. RUN CLUB! First run club of the
year! It was Tuesday night and it wasn’t
raining or snowing and it was still light out from daylight savings time. I was tired after a long day at work and not
a lot of sleep the night before (Georgie decided to bark at nothing for TWO
HOURS straight starting at 12:30am) but I had a great, easy run with Kyle and Gary.
Wednesday = more rain. Rain = treadmill. Treadmill --> repeat workout from Eric.
I was in another Workweek Hustle
Fitbit Challenge with Lee and Ally this week so I wanted to do my long run on
Friday. I still lost. Ally has horses. She gets in about 5,000 steps 2x per day just
shoveling 💩. But anyways, I got
Georgie out for a little neighborhood walk/run/sniff/stop/sit in the middle of
the road training session before heading back out for 7 miles on my own. It was another windy day—I’m so sick of the
strong, swirling Cape Cod wind!—but I really wanted to focus on the middle
miles. I ended up running 7:15, 7:14,
7:13, 7:03 so I was very happy with it.
Saturday’s run was the total
opposite. The goal was keep it easy and
I did just that. Literally.
Other highlights:
·
I signed up for the Piggy Trot!
·
This weekend I got to hang out with some of my
best running ladies—Christa, Trask and Anna—and met Baby Lizzy! She was born on 2/23. Erik says she’s going to be a hockey player
and golfer but we all know she will be a runner like her speedy mama Christa.
