Weekly Roundup 9.11-9.17 & 9.18-9.24

Summer is officially over and my foot has been feeling good.  Just in time for fall running.  I was a little bummed last weekend because it was the weekend I was supposed to be in Philly running a Rock ‘n’ Roll half marathon.  Even though I am in no shape to run a half at the moment, it was still something I had previously been looking forward to and I was sad to miss out on a few days away with my parents.

Last week I was able to run 4 days up to 4 miles.  I felt like I was starting to get back into a routine until Tropical Storm Jose came along and brought wind and rain for 5 days straight.  Right now I’m just running—not in training—so I was happy to not have to worry about when and where I was going to run and just took all the stormy days off.  It was still misty and yucky on Saturday but both Georgie and I were stir crazy so I brought her out for a mile then continued on for 5 miles on my own.  It was wonderful.

Other highlights:

·      My spinners celebrated by half birthday on Tuesday morning with chocolate Twinkies!
·      I submitted my application for the 2018 Boston Marathon on Friday September 15th.  I received my acceptance letter on Sunday September 24th.  I have many thoughts and emotions about the Boston Marathon so I will blog separately about this at a later date…

BibRave Pro Product Review: Stunt Puppy Go Dog Glo Dry Collar

Disclaimer: I was recently sent a Stunt Puppy Go Dog Glo Dry Collar to review as part of being a BibRave Pro.  Learn more about becoming a BibRave Pro (ambassador) and check out BibRave.com to review find and write race reviews!

If you know anything about me you know I love running and I love my dog.  I also love running with my dog.  Earlier this year we tested out the Stunt Puppy’s Stunt Runner hands-free leash for BibRave—this time we got to try the Go Dog Glo Dry Collar.

We are already familiar with Stunt Puppy’s dry collars but this one is REFLECTIVE!  Safety is so important and even though we haven’t been out much walking or running after dark this summer, the early darkness is coming.

We obviously picked pink for our color and it’s so bright and bold!  Florescent pink.  Our favorite.  If Pink Reflective isn’t for you, it also comes in Orange Reflective, Yellow Reflective, Royal Reflective, Ocean Reflective and Red Reflective.

Some of the Go Dog Glo key features:

  • Reflective
  • Waterproof
  • Stink proof
  • Constructed from BioThane, a virtually indestructible material
  • Uses Duraflex Buckles, the best on the market
  • Has a Double D-Ring*

*So we love the material and color but one of the coolest features is that there are two D-Rings.  One is designed for tags, the other for the leash.  How convenient!

“There’s no need to reach under your dog’s neck to clip the leash then spin the buckle and tags all the way up to the top of the neck.  The second D-Ring is right there on top (and can be repositioned) for you to easily clip right into.  And no jingle mingle with the leash and tags.  It’s a double win.  A double D-Ring win.”

Often times when we are out for a long walk or run, Georgie wears her harness so we don’t take advantage of the second D-ring.  However, when we run errands or head to grandma and grandpaw’s house we leave the harness at home.  It’s so easy to clip on the leash.  It’s also been nice to have a ring on top when I’m trying to grab Georgie.  (Sometimes she’s crazy—if you don’t already, follow her on Instagram @GeorgieGSD.)

Other bonuses:

  • All Stunt Puppy products are made in the USA.
  • I love that Stunt Puppy tests its gear with search-and-rescue dogs, law enforcement dogs, Iditarod dogs and dock-diving dogs.  If the gear is reliable for the most active dogs in the world, it’s perfect for my baby G!

Happy running!
