Race Report: Jingle Jog 5k 2013

What a fun race!

I signed up a few weeks ago with my dad.  The race was sponsored by the Falmouth Chamber of Commerce and I knew the Falmouth Road Race was also somehow involved.  Festive gear was encouraged which made for great entertainment.

The race started and finished in front of the Flying Bridge.  The course followed the last mile and a half of the road race (up that big hill at the heights) and continued past the finish line before taking a left and looping back around to the harbor.  The weather was cold and a bit windy.  Daddo and I sat in the car for a while when we got there then I went searching for an old friend.  She was rocking a pink sparkly Santa hat!

I think I went out faster then I wanted to just to warm up.  No goals for the day, I was just there to run.  I felt very comfortable after seeing my first mile split and decided to stay with the pace.  Lindi Lou was waiting for us right around the halfway point.  A nice surprise!  I passed a Santa and a reindeer and before you know it, we were back at the harbor with the Flying Bridge in sight.

Overall, fun day.  I ran well.  I believe I was 3rd female.  Daddo ran his fastest 5k.  He averaged 8:37 pace or about a minute per mile faster than his previous best.

Merry Christmas :)

Registration Is Now Open

I entered the lottery for New York!

The 2014 TCS New York City Marathon will take place on November 2nd and I hope to be one of the 50,000 people running through all five boroughs from Staten Island to Central Park.

I will find out sometime around my birthday whether or not I made it through the lottery.  Way too long to wait and almost impossible for first time entrants to get into but I’m keeping my fingers crossed.

Want to join me?  Special Cyber Monday Sale - $5 non-refundable processing fee (returns to $11 tomorrow): http://www.tcsnycmarathon.org/plan-your-race/getting-in
