Weekly Roundup 12.28-1.3

Week 14 of 16

Well if I said I had another good week, I’d be lying.  I took taper to the extreme and only ran a total of 6 miles this week.  6 painful miles.

I rested on Monday.  I rested on Tuesday by teaching spin class off the bike and skipping the run portion of our Marathon Sports Mashpee year-end party.  On Wednesday I tried trotting slowly with the pup.  I was ok until Georgie had to stop and then starting up again caused me great pain.  If stopping and going is still causing pain, that will be tough in Houston as I walk through the water stops.

On Thursday I was getting anxious reading everyone’s “last run of the year” tweets.  They got me out the door for 2.2 miles before New Year’s Eve lasagna—Thanks mom!  More pain.  I don’t know why I went out again on Friday.  It’s not like I was going to get better overnight but I ran 3 miles to start off the New Year.   

Reality set in that I need to do everything I can to get me to the start line in as little pain as I can.  If that means NO RUNNING for 2 weeks, let’s do it.  I’ll be well rested, right?

I also warned my parents—If Houston doesn’t go as planned, be prepared for me to sign up for a fall marathon.  Chicago in 2012 was about completing the distance.  Houston was supposed to be about training hard and running fast(er).  Stay tuned…

G mileage disclaimer: None of the mileage reported with Georgie is straight, consistent running. We may run 1 mile in 9 or 10 minutes but in reality we probably covered a 2-3 mile distance with a mix of walking and running.  I stop my watch every time we start walking.
