Week 13 of 16

Guess what time it is?
TAPER TIME!
Last week was my toughest training week in terms of mileage
and intensity. The work is done. Now it’s time to taper down and rest up for
the big day. Eeeeee!
On Monday I was still off my game mentally so I let
it all out with a fast 5 miler. I wasn’t
looking at my watch—I just ran hard.
My spin class celebrated my birthday on Tuesday morning and
then I mixed up my whole week with a Tuesday night workout and treadmill
run. Because it was my hardest week of
running, Greg gave me a “deload” workout and it was awesome—so fast and easy!
Wednesday night I hopped back on the treadmill and flew
through some half mile repeats. Another
storm was threatening New England but I wasn’t going to let it stop me from seeing
my KK who was up from Miami! We went to
dinner and made an obligatory stop at DQ for free dessert.
Friday was a pretty busy day but I got in a trail run with G
and I went to the gym for my second deload workout of the week. I went to bed pretty early because…
Saturday was long run day!
My second attempt at 20 miles and my last long run!
I am very happy to report back that this 20 miler was SOOOO
much better than my last 20 miler. The
weather was perfect. I mean, it could
have been a little warmer—but the wind was totally manageable. My dad joined me for all 20 miles. We headed to the beach and followed the road
race course. A good mix of ocean and
rolling hills.
By the time I got home Saturday afternoon, I was exhausted. I knew if I sat down I was done for the day
so I quickly showered and met up with Katrina for a post-long run feast at
Crisp followed by ice cream and a trip to the knob.
